Description

A reversible party dress from Maison Q's Chinese New Year 2026 collection, cut in a roomy A-line with a square neckline and ruffle sleeves. Snap closure buttons run halfway down the back for ease of wear.

Because it is reversible it can be worn inside out — one side is A Straits Tale Toile, the other is The Great Race. Double the fun, twice the mileage.

The prints

A Straits Tale Toile — a whimsical ode to the Straits, drawn in classic toile style: bridges arching gracefully over rivers, sampans gliding across calm water, and rows of shophouses and pagodas. Animals much loved in Chinese culture appear throughout, each carrying its own auspicious meaning — the panda for peace and friendship, the phoenix for renewal and grace, the crane for longevity, and the tortoise for wisdom and endurance. Orchids, Singapore's national flower and a symbol of refinement, bloom across the print.

The Great Race — the legend of how the twelve zodiac animals earned their place in the Chinese calendar, set along the bank of a flowing river. All twelve are here, from the clever rat and steady ox to the spirited horse and loyal dog. Palm trees sway, a mandarin tree and a Chinese money plant add layers of abundance, and pineapples nestle among gingko leaves for prosperity, resilience and hope.

Care

Gentle machine wash on cold, with like colours, in a laundry bag.
Do not soak. No clothes dryer.
Iron on medium heat. On a reversible piece, iron away from the hemline and towards the centre so the two layers of fabric do not gather at the hem.
Do not iron over brand labels or snap closure buttons.
Go easy on the detergent — too much can affect the durability and colour of cotton over time.
